At the end of this month, my long-awaited evolution book is going on sale. It's now available for pre-order at Amazon.com: www.amazon.com/Gods-Word-Human…
Several paleontologists and science educators have offered to write advance reviews of the book, using pre-publication copies. But the review I'm most looking forward to reading is the one from Marcus Ross, a creationist paleontologist who's planning to review it in the Journal of Creation. Almost all pro-evolution books are eventually reviewed in that journal, but Mr. Ross is one of the few professional creationists whom I think I can trust to review the book fairly. However, having it reviewed there also means that I'm inevitably going to be subject to a lot of attention from creationists in the near future.
Creation Ministries International, the organization that publishes the Journal of Creation, has a history of conducting extensive opposition about some of their opponents. The main thing they look for is evidence of what they call "atheistic bias", which is an effective way to dissuade their (mostly Christian) readership from listening to a person. Their readership has a lot of overlap with my book's intended audience, so I need to do everything I can to make sure they can't accomplish that in my own case. In preparation for having this research done about myself, it's necessary for me to think carefully about what submissions I should have in my gallery here, and make sure it doesn't include anything creationists could easily use to attack me in this area.
I regret having to do this, but I can't allow any of my online accounts to come in the way of the book's success. The amount of time and work I've put into this book is at least an order of magnitude greater than for any other thing I've ever created, and if the only way to ensure its success required me to delete my entire gallery here, I'd do it.

Super Mario Maker levels
I've already posted this link at Facebook and Wikipediocracy, but if any of my watchers here own a Wii U and a copy of Super Mario Maker, I've recently been creating several levels for that game. They're received a moderate amount of attention already, but it's hard to not be jealous of the people whose levels have gone viral and been posted on blogs all across the internet. In this game, there seems to be only a loose correlation between a level's quality and how much attention it gets.
A list of the levels I've uploaded can be found here.
My most recent level is basically a companion work to this poem. Like the poem, this level involves s
Bill Amend has borrowed an idea from me
This FoxTrot comic uses an idea that I came up with about 17 years ago, and used in my own comic here.
I drew that comic in 1999, when I was 15, so obviously my art ability has improved a lot in the time since then. But I think my comic still involves a few jokes that are funnier than the ones in Amend's comic: particularly Darth Maul's favorite bat, and the way that Darth Sidious has positioned the visor on his baseball cap.
It's the second time something like this has happened for old art in my Side 7 account. The FoxTrot example might be just a coincidence, but in the earlier case it had been a deliberate prediction on my part about the
Time for a change
For the past seven years, my featured deviation has been Dinosaurs are Still Here, partly because I felt like this story was a particularly good representation of my personality. It's something that really happened to me in fall of 2000, and it's one of the main reasons for my attachment to dromaeosaurids (Deinonychus in particular) as well as how I feel about creationists. It's also my first submission here that won any sort of awardit was chosen for something called "The Unknown Artists Project".
However, I also think my writing ability has improved since 2005. I've been thinking for a while of updating my featured deviation, but
For people looking in my gallery
I don't know this for certain, but I've been given a reason to predict that more people than usual will be visiting my gallery tomorrow. If that ends up being the case, there are two things I'd like to point out to people who come here.
1: Although "Dinosaurs are Still Here" is my featured deviation (and has been since 2005), I no longer feel like it's the best representation of my writing ability. I'm still fairly pleased with it, but I think I've also improved a lot during the seven years since I wrote it. If you're looking for one thing to read in order to get a sense of my current writing ability, overall I think "Cretaceous Roulette"
