I've been hacked by a spammer

Fri Mar 6, 2009, 8:44 PM
As most of my watchers have probably noticed, a spambot has just hijacked my DA account and used it to post spam comments on the userpages of everyone on my watch list. ~wynahiros’s page contained identical spam comments from two other users in addition to me, so my account appears to not be the only one invaded by this spammer. The spammees who were affected by my account have my apologies. (Is spammee a real word, or is there some other term for a recipient of spam?)

This probably isn’t as bad as the when my account here was hacked in 2004, since this time nothing in my gallery has been deleted, but it’s still embarrassing. According to the spammer, I’m a 23-year-old woman who wants people to visit her webcam porn site. I hope the people who were spammed from my account take the time to look at my userpage, so they can notice this journal entry and see from my profile that I’m a 25-year-old male.

It's always possible that you're just a very confused 25-year-old male. ;)

Ugh. Spam. I hope your account gets fixed (for everyones sake), or at least the spam stops.

Good luck!

But what about the Deinonychus?
:iconarrow-quivershaft:
I think this is actually a vulnerability in the coding of dA; I've heard about it a bit and it relies on clicking a link, then uses your account to post spam comments all over dA, which also have the same exploit. Last I heard, the dA staff were working on fixing it.

Since when do spambots (or whatever else that spreads such crap) hack into accounts? These things are getting impudent more and more.

That is infuriatingly wrong. Do these people actually think they can sell anything this way? By people, of course I mean the people who created these hijacking sites.

Seriously, what kind of moron would buy into such a thing?

I’ve never understood how spam is able to generate any revenue for the stuff it’s advertising. The more spam I get about any particular product, the more it makes me want to avoid supporting the company that makes it.
:iconferahgo-the-assassin:
Annoying television commercials work the same way. The more annoying the commercial, the more I go out of my way to boycott the product. =p

Spam is taking over the world. It’s like what I drew in this cartoon: [link]

So, who you are gonna call? "Spambusters"!
