Literature Text

When theropods outgrew their youth,
Did males and females fall in love?
Within another’s company,
They found such friends a joy to see,
With pointed claw and feathered crest,
The varied features they liked best.
They bore the same essential truth,
But not the symbols thought most of.

When theropods found one to like,
Did males and females go on dates?
They shared romantic dinners out,
And sometimes even kissed, no doubt,
Especially to lick away
The blood that stained them from their prey.
Our purposes may be alike,
But not our ways of choosing mates.

When theropods had found their mates
Did they have families to raise?
The reared their young with tender care,
And brought them food obtained to share,
Regurgitating chunks of meat
To drop before their offspring’s feet.
We bear the same parental traits,
But raise our young in different ways.

In seeing what their world became,
Would theropods find naught they knew?
The forest’s beasts nearby still dwell,
The kin of dinosaurs as well,
Beyond the city’s peaks and roads:
Humanity’s bizarre abodes.
Our world with theirs has much the same,
But all its shapes are strange and new.
There are two different ways that people tend to look at theropods, the suborder that contains all of the carnivorous dinosaurs. One is to exaggerate their similarities to humans and the other is to ignore them entirely, and neither method accurately describes what they were really like.

This is something that I have been talking about with people who are interested in role-playing as dinosaurs. In order to portray them in a way that is both interesting and believable, one needs to acknowledge their similarities to humans without exaggerating them. It's not always easy to do.

I realy like this,
In the discriptipion you said
'One is to exaggerate their similarities to humans and the other is to ignore them entirely'
Do you mean like you get some people who go with this sick twisted 'Anthro' stuff and others go give the thought that they just killed and eated?
This is a subject I have worked out for the dinosaur Utahrpator, I would like a PM conversation if you start it.

9/10 for the poem anyway.
