Ransom meets a Hross by Agahnim Ransom meets a Hross by Agahnim
My illustration of a scene from C. S. Lewis’s sci-fi novel Out of the Silent Planet, in which the main character Ransom meets an alien creature called a “Hross” on the planet Malacandra. I drew this almost five years ago, so I don’t think the art is quite up to my current standard, but I’m uploading it anyway because Ferahgo was lamenting the lack of decent fanart from this book.

I love this picture. I used it in a blog post about the book. I linked back to here and gave you credit. If you'd rather me not use the book, let me know and I'll find a different picture. I love it!

I don’t mind at all that you’re linking to it, although it’s too bad that the picture of mine you’re linking to has to be one that’s below my current standards like this. (This drawing is now around ten years old.)

By the way, I like your Princess Mononoke avatar. It’s easy to understand why a fan of Out of the Silent Planet would like that movie also.

Thank you for your permission. I find it hard to express just how much these books are effecting me this time around. Truly profound. I understand about your artistic quality, but I love the image and I thank you again for letting me use it. If anything, have another go at it- recreate it to your more experienced standard. More Space Trilogy art out there is a very good thing.

The Hross sort of reminds me of a creature I saw in a book called Tripp when I was in kindergarten. Though Tripp was more cat-like than this one, and had white fur. It was an interesting book, too. They had this thing at the end that explained about the cat-creatures, and I actually thought they were real for awhile, because the author made them seem like something that could actually exist. =)
